Installation Purpose and Result
Bournemouth Highcliff Marriott Hotel is one of the prestigious hotels in the world with 160 rooms built in 1878. NMR Pipetector was adopted for both domestic hot and cold-water pipework systems on the urgent request of Marriott International Hotel Group. For the protection of the hot and cold-water pipework from internal corrosion, two units of NMR Pipetector PT-50DS were installed onto the 2 inches diameter hot water flow pipes that supplies all hot water to entire hotel, and one unit of NMR Pipetector PT-75DS was installed onto the 3 inches diameter domestic cold-water pipework that supplies all cold water to entire hotel.
Only 13 days after the installation, Fe content of domestic hot water considerably decreased from 6.0 mg/l to less than 0.007 mg/l, and Fe content of domestic cold-water also decreased from 3.46 mg/l to less than 0.007 mg/l which is much lower than the British Government Standard for Drinking Water of 0.2mg/l. It means that new forming of corrosion (FeO (OH)) inside the pipework was immediately terminated and the existing corrosion is now being reduced into magnetite (Fe3O4) which does not dissolve into water. NMR Pipetector protects inner surface of pipework from then on.
