Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park London had major problems with internal corrosion in its galvanized steel domestic hot water system supplying hot water to bathrooms and kitchens throughout the hotel. To eliminate issues regarding internal corrosion, single-cell bacteria and electrolysis between steel and copper, the hotel installed two Pipetector PT-75DS on its two main domestic hot water supply pipe headers connected to main boilers.
Four weeks after the installation, the level of iron-ion in water was considerably reduced to 0.0043 mg/ℓ from 13.35 mg/ℓ before the installation. It further decreased to 0.0335 mg/ℓ after eight weeks.
It means Pipetector immediately terminated the new formation of corrosion inside the pipework and reduced the existing corrosion to magnetite, which does not dissolve in water. Pipetector will provide the hotel with complete protection against internal corrosion and single-cell bacteria for over forty years.
