Christ’s College, Cambridge installed Pipetector PT-75DS on its main central heating return pipe at the Todd building on July 31, 2013, to eliminate the issues regarding corrosion and single cell bacteria as well as maintain the integrity of the entire pipework.
The Fe-ion content in the heating water was 43.81mg/L before the installation. But the level was reduced to 17.95mg/L after three weeks. Reduction of the Fe-ion content proceeded slow, as the heating system was not operating in August when Pipetector was installed. After the system resumed its full operation in October, the Fe-ion content kept decreasing until it dropped to 0.5195 mg/L in 33 weeks.
